@kseistrup Thanks!

I haven't fired up twister for a while...let's see if it's still active...

Ideally it would be good to have all the thumbnails bundled in one freenet request to be displayed but I'm not yet sure how possible that is

I put the photos of my Pitcairn Island trip on freenet to see how well an image heavy site works. It works but too many thumbnails is slow

Android phone stopped syncing? The checkbox under "Data Usage > Menu > Auto-sync Data" needs to be checked. How it unchecked I don't know.
kotavlami Nov 05, 2014
I pushed a new version to freenet last night and it seems to have working links and images now.
kotavlami Nov 05, 2014
I ended up following the 'baseurl' advice given in this github issue #issuecomment-18952908>https://github.com/jekyll/jekyll/issues/332#issuecomment-18952908
kotavlami Nov 05, 2014
Converting my jekyll based blog to be hosted on Freenet I had to use absolute URLs, I couldn't get Jekyll to play nice with relative ones.

I uploaded my clearnet weblog to Freenet as an experiment. With some tweaks to Jekyll to generate relative links it works well. Key follows.

@luissoeiro @jboss @wallq @thedod true. I've not tried it with a transient connection. What other options are out there?
kotavlami Sep 25, 2014
Clasp looks interesting. Common Lisp with an LLVM backend. C++ FFI too. http://drmeister.wordpress.com/2014/09/18/announcing-clasp/

@erkan_yilmaz Aha, found it thanks. "Switch to promoted posts" in the settings drop down.
kotavlami Sep 23, 2014
Where do promoted posts from #twister mining appear? I don't think I've ever seen one in my stream.
kotavlami Sep 23, 2014
@jboss Great idea!
kotavlami Sep 23, 2014
Where 'healing' means keep bits of the file around so it's still available for download as freenet data 'decays' over time if un-requested.
kotavlami Sep 23, 2014
In theory anyone with that freenet bounty.webm file can 'heal' it by reuploading with compression off as it will produce the same CHK key.
kotavlami Sep 23, 2014
@jboss Nice. I'm pretty astounded at how fast downloads are now.
kotavlami Sep 23, 2014
Freenet CHK keys are computed from the hash of a file. Given a hash of a normal net file can you compute the CHK key and find it on freenet?
kotavlami Sep 23, 2014
@jboss I did the file upload from the web interface. Turned off compression and used 'upload from disk'. It took overnight.
kotavlami Sep 23, 2014
With Media Source Extensions and Offline storage support in browser you could probably do some nifty freenet backed video player.

kotavlami Sep 23, 2014
I wonder if there is a way to stream video from Freenet using in-browser video support. Currently large files need to completely download?

@jboss Why do you think they are dying?
kotavlami Sep 23, 2014
@erkan_yilmaz I have the issue with the number of characters not updating in the Network/Mining area too.
kotavlami Sep 23, 2014
@jboss Hah, I assume this has something to do with the DRM/EME stuff Mozilla is implementing?
kotavlami Sep 23, 2014
Mozilla is looking for a video codec engineer to work on Daala, a next gen video codec https://careers.mozilla.org/en-US/position/oNOsZfwM
kotavlami Sep 23, 2014
@erkan_yilmaz I also use it over tor - I wondered why it wasn't showing anything there.
kotavlami Sep 23, 2014
@erkan_yilmaz Interesting, thanks!
kotavlami Sep 22, 2014
What happens to old unused #twister names? Do they ever expire?
kotavlami Sep 22, 2014
@jboss There's a discussion in twister-dev about it https://groups.google.com/forum/#!msg/twister-dev/KUzVxMNB0YQ/7YCPW29HW4AJ
kotavlami Sep 22, 2014
@jboss If twister treated URL's as attachments/metadata not counting towards 140 char limit it would be interesting.
kotavlami Sep 22, 2014
@jboss @luissoeiro @wallq @thedod The captcha stuff is for the web of trust which is required by Sone. It's definitely a barrier to entry.
kotavlami Sep 22, 2014
@jboss I like how that ogg file just works using in-browser html video.
kotavlami Sep 22, 2014
@jboss @luissoeiro @wallq @thedod Freenet users might argue that if you're running freenet already, why not just use Sone?
kotavlami Sep 22, 2014
@jboss @luissoeiro @wallq @thedod Freenet data can disappear over time if it's not accessed often though. Might not be an issue for twister.
kotavlami Sep 22, 2014
@jboss That said the image appeared on a newly started freenet node quickly. Freenet has improved a lot since I last used.
kotavlami Sep 22, 2014
@jboss Twister seems to think freenet addresses are email addresses. Unfortunate they take so much of the 140 chars too.

kotavlami Sep 22, 2014
Discussion of the bitmessage spam issue is on the forums https://bitmessage.org/forum/index.php?topic=4136.0
kotavlami Sep 22, 2014
Bitmessage is currently getting a hammering from a user(s) doing many broadcasts/s. This is resulting in node track of 200/MB per hr or so.
